Day 183 - Swimming with Cheryl's parents was fun! After MUCH cajoling by Cheryl's father, Ben finally got into the pool, and he had a blast!
One of their favorite things about Cheryl, she spoils them!
She looks a tad intimidated here but she loved sliding down that slide head first!
Ben even got in without his Puddle Jumper!
Day 184 - 4th of July. It rained almost all day. We did go and watch daddy race that morning for his annual Peavine Falls Run. We were DRENCHED, but enjoyed getting to be there, and the cooler temps! Bfast at Panera, then relaxing and having family time most of the day, until fireworks that night!
Here are my Yankee Doodle Girls
Of course, we had a visit from Uncle Sam...
Day 185 - School Fun - learning our verses to song, and reading/acting out our Bible Story is one of our favorite parts of the day. They are sometimes still in their jammies during this part of school, Emily happened to sleep in her 4th outfit since it was SO late when we got home from the fireworks.
Here they are also "chained up" and pretending to be Paul and Silas in jail, singing praises to Jesus.
We studied "ants" in science this week, and made our own ant farm. The cool thing it that we were able to catch the queen ant (after digging in several ant beds, Emily spied her and we spooned her into the jar), since captivity she has laid thousands of eggs, so we will be releasing them all very soon! This was a fun experiment.
Day 184 - The garden is now on our daily "to-do list". weeding, hoeing, picking the fruit. This is one of my favorite things to do. It can be time consuming, but I love how the kids help some. We have squash, tomatoes (5 varieties), okra, green peppers, lettuce, green beans, carrots, lima beans, and many herbs so far. We are waiting on our lady peas to finish plumping up, and we are not sure if the cucumbers are going to produce.
Emily was inspired by Daddys race, so we ran together Saturday morning. She ran 1/2 mile, then we walked/ran the 1/2 mile back to the car. She did amazing! Btw - she did NOT run in those shoes, I was just not quick enough with the camera!
Day 185 - Cutting the grass with daddy. Amazing how much they enjoy this noisy ride!
Meanwhile, Nors and I are enjoying our blueberries from the family farm!
